Mr. Shame
Like a greasy salesman
Shame slides in
With his pinstriped pants
And dark grey bowler cap
He twizzles his mustache
With a sly smile begins to
Dish out
Dressed up lies
Like sugar candy,
But I am not taking anything
From this dandy.
I will not listen
to this voice anymore
So Mr. shame,
Let me show you to the door.
I am leaning into a
New voice today
And He has declared
That I am ok.
I am not defected, marred or
Fundamentally flawed
I am not marked, messed up
Ugly or raw
Actually,
There is nothing wrong with me
So Mr. shame be quiet
And just let me be.
I am not going to hide
Or disappear
I will not back away
Or run off in fear
The fact is,
Truth always trumps lies ,
And the truth is
I am beautiful in His eyes.
The God of the universe
Calls me
His pearl of great price
A beloved daughter
For whom he gave his life.
So I will stand firm
And hold my ground
In the solid love of Christ
Where I am found.
“Those who look to him are radiant;
their faces are never covered with shame.” Psalm 34:5
“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” 1 John 3:1
